The Roslindale & West Dennis Railway is now under re-construction. the original back-and-forth layout was built according to this plan:

The active track was the red path, with its power controlled by one of Lajos Thek's electronic gizmos. The long sidings had independent power and could be used for switching, although they usually were just used for display. In real life it looked like this:

The new layout plan looks like this:

It's made on a foam base, not homesote, fits the space better, and has two levels (the green is the upper level.) A new Dallee controller provides separate back-and-forth control for each level, and there are still plenty of sidings for display.
And here it is, sort of. The layout is built and wired and decorated in a preliminary sort of way. The wiring is messy but the lights and switches and sidings all work. The track needs cleaning and some adjustment, but the locos run back and forth (with the occasional nudge.) I'm still playing with the camera positions. And the layout will be off more than on for the next few weeks.
As time goes on I will develop a page of more detailed photos and videos.
